Next, what 'monuments' are you referring to 'protecting'?  Almost all the civil monuments in the South were erected with the intention of provocation; and as monuments to people who tried to destroy the United States of America. Add that their intention was to continue to use people as property.

An exagerated analogy- a monument to Hitler in Israel just wouldn't work.
