Trump incited an attack on the Capitol in order to interrupt the American election process. It was useful only in creting chaos, reinforcing Trump as a disruptive force in American politics.
In doing so, he overturned a long standing institution used to select American government. Read the posts here- Trump 2016 elected without a popular majority, but by the Constiturional electoral college.
Trump announced in 2015 and 2020 that he would respect the election results 'if he won'. Biden was elected with exactly the same electoral college count as Trump 2016 but with a popular majority.
Trump's vindictive narcissism required that he attack those results.
Democracy exists with respect for the results and consent of those loding elections.
