Not so much so when it's not. These folks did a smash and grab on a scale much greater than a hand bag store, they did it to the Capitol of our country.

Marjorie Taylor Greene says Jan. 6th defendants are being 'abused' and treated 'worse than we treat terrorists at Gitmo' and with some being 'force-fed gluten food'

  • Greene, Reps. Paul Gosar, Louis Gohmert, and Matt Gaetz spoke at a Capitol press conference
  • Greene said 1/6 defendants were being 'abused'
  • She claimed they were being told to denounce former President Donald Trump
  • Dozens have been held in a D.C. facility pending trial

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed at a Capitol press conference that Jan. 6th defendants are being treated 'worse' than terrorists while they await trial.

'They have been beaten by the guards. They are called white supremacist. They are denied religious services, haircuts, shaving, the ability to trim their fingernails,' she said at an event along with Reps. Rep. Louis Gohmert of Texas, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz and Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar.

She said Jan. 6th prisoners were being 'mistreated and abused worse than we treat terrorists at Gitmo,' in reference to the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

'They are told that they have to denounce President Trump. They are told that their views are the views of cult members Even though these are men that every single night at 9:00 at night, they put their hand over their heart and sing the national anthem voluntarily,' she said.

Green, who had her committee assignments stripped by the House for some of her own prior statements about QAnon conspiracy theories, suggested prisoners were being subjected to Critical Race Theory training and called white supremacists by their own government-appointed lawyers.  She said they were 'mocked because of their political beliefs.'

She also said prisoners were being 'force-fed gluten food' despite having celiac disease, causing illness and fasting. Last month, on Steve Bannon's podcast, she said an inmate wasn't able to get gluten-free meals without paying an extra fee.

U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX) hold a news conference to highlight the treatment of jailed January 6th defendants as they await trial. She said some are represented by public defenders who 'hate them'

She said the defendants she spoke to had public defenders who 'hate them' and who 'tell them they have to denounce their political views, want them to watch videos and read books that basically is critical race theory training.'

'No one's been charged with insurrection,' said Goehmert,' speaking about those accused of various offenses in connection to the riot.

'In fact if they were going to charge someone with insurrection, it's beginning to sound more like those would be agents for the federal government that were there stirring things up, trying to get people to engage in violence,' he claimed.

D.C. Judge Royce Lamberth freed a Jan. 6th defendant last month, saying there were 'deplorable' and 'beyond belief' conditions at the D.C. facility where they were being held.

U.S. Marshalls were transferring 400 out of a section plagued by clogged toilets and where water was shut off.

Gaetz said at the event that he would support former President Donald Trump for House Speaker, and had told him so.

At a hearing last month, witnesses testified conditions had been problematic at the jail for years but didn't get wide attention until the Jan. 6th defendants were held there
