When you see a sign at a business that reads "Under new management" are you compelled to give them your business? The managment may or may not make the business better, but you already know the previous management was not successful, that's a known and demonstrated failure.

Trump's control of the Repblican Party says something the lick spittles, hacks that direct the party. Party loyalty is rare to in America, the vast majority of voters are independent and vote for or against issues and policies of the individual candidate.

Independent voters are the target of an intelligent campaign. Presenting negatives of your opposition gets you press attention, but that is correctly viewed as an expression of a small person. The more Trump engages in insult of opposing candidates and parties the fewer people are persuaded.
