  • In March, Regan sparked outrage on a Facebook livestream by comparing overturning the election to sexual assault on his daughters 
  • GOP strategist Amber Harris said it was too late to overturn Donald Trump's election 2020 election loss 
  • Regan responded: 'I have the same attitude as the parent of three daughters'
  • 'I tell my daughters, "if rape is inevitable, you should just lay back and enjoy it," so, that's not how we roll and that's not how we won this election,' he added

A Republican candidate who compared opposition to overturning the 2020 election to telling his daughters 'if rape is inevitable, you should just lay back and enjoy it', has lost his Michigan special election for a state seat that has never been won by a Democrat.

Carol Glanville defeated Robert 'RJ' Regan by 11 percentage points Tuesday in a Kent County district that her Republican predecessor carried by 26 points in 2020.

Regan had been denounced by GOP leaders since shortly after his upset victory in a four-person primary and has been panned for anti-Semitic remarks and for calling Russia's invasion of Ukraine a 'fake war just like the fake pandemic'

In March, during a Facebook livestream event for the right-wing Rescue Michigan Coalition, Regan responded to GOP strategist Amber Harris saying it was too late to overturn Donald Trump's election 2020 election loss.  

That prompted Regan to reply: 'I have the same attitude as the parent of three daughters.'

'I tell my daughters, "if rape is inevitable, you should just lay back and enjoy it," so, that's not how we roll and that's not how we won this election.'

'Well if rape is inevitable, you should just lie back and enjoy it. That's not how we roll. That's not how I won this election. We go right at it.'
