I have to disagree with Governor Abbot. Cruelty to animals is a common symptom of a dangerous sociopathic personality.

Psychopathy is not unusual in the human population. Many successful people display symptoms of, at the very least, sociopathy if not psychopathy. Those suffering from these disorders have no empathy, no identification with other people. "Other people" are mobile, verbal objects in their world.

They don't necessarily abuse animals and others, they understand that there are social norms and behavior that they should display, if for no other reason, to simplify their lives. The point here is that Payton Gendron did demonstrate his capacity for violence by torturing animals.
