When state taxes came up, they could not believe the difference. One person claimed he just purchased a EV and the additional state fees was close to $1,000. The subject of Business regulations, left many with their jaws wide open, it was hard for them to believe how easy busines regulations were. Everyone I talked to said, they are considering moving.
"... considering moving" Considering is the operative word. Thinking about and doing something are two very different things. There's a sound reason why Idaho is the 13th least populous state and 7th least densely populated. The reason for those things isn't the scenery...

As long as the electorate reelects people who promise value for the cost, they will be reelected. And the middle class is very persuable on that subject.

Get rich enough and pay zero taxes is a viable alternative as well.
