The process in which Trump' responses were the leag invocation of his right to not make a statement that could possibly be self incriminating? An investigation of his false statements of property values. 

Certainly there is a political aspect the AG's actions- Trump's a politician be he is in the property business, too. Nailing a rich and powerful tax-payer for dodging the draft, er- avoiding due taxation sends a message. If he intentionally understates the values of his properties in tax statements, he's stealing from other taxpayers who will cover the shortfall in the budget.
