Trump's and Trumpism's moment came and went in 2015 and the first years on Trump's administration. Trump was seen in 2015, 2016 as a potentially beneficial anti-establishment candidate. And he largely was such, the first years of his presidency he did accomplish some positives.

But Trump, Trumpism became the establishment with his own personal power dominating the Republican Party.

Trump boasted that:

"My people are so smart -- and you know what else they say about my people? The polls?" Trump asked a crowd at a Sioux Center, Iowa, rally Saturday. "I have the most loyal people -- did you ever see that?"

"I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?" he said, referring to the major street in New York City that cuts through Manhattan's large commercial district. "It's, like, incredible."

Pride goeth before the fall.

Trump didn't shoot anybody in 2020 but his administration contributed to the excess death of hundreds of thousands of Americans who succumbed to COVID-19; that pandemic caused record unemployment and the sharpest economic contraction since the Great Depression. He nullified the praise he'd earned until 2020, turned his maverick attitude from a potentially positive to a definite negative. Death and poverty are things you can't overlook.

Trump boasted, lied to America, Americans:

"We have it totally under control. It's one person coming in .."

"It's going to disappear. One day, it's like a miracle --"

The Donald admitted the lie: “I wanted to always play it down,” Trump told Woodward on March 19, according to a copy of the book obtained by CNN. “I still like playing it down, because I don’t want to create a panic.”

You pays yer money and you takes yer chances. Trump lost the presidency and made himself absolutely unelectable with his actions, statements since: most definitely on January 6.

Trump wants to run again in 2024. Bring it on, he'll just lose again.

  • Running for president will do wonders for Trump's narcissism, but the soon-to-be-former president would lose again in 2024.
  • Trump has lost in business, media, and now politics. He has a long history of losing.
  • Trump has lost the popular vote in both elections he's run in and is only getting less popular.
  • So, sure, Trump can run again in 2024. He'll just do what he does best: lose.

Donald Trump is a loser. And he knows he's a loser. But despite his 2020 election loss, he's still thinking about running for president again in 2024. Bring it on.

Trump the loser

Whether it's real estate, casinos, faux charities, or presidential reelection, Donald Trump tries desperately to hide the fact that he's a loser. In fact, the harder he tries, the more it becomes clear that he's a loser.

Last month, Trump became the biggest loser of any sitting president on the ballot since Herbert Hoover, the architect of the Depression. With that loss squarely on his mind if not his lips, Trump pivoted to his other demon: relevance.

Trump has never met a news cycle that he hasn't tried to ruin. His desperate need for relevance combined with his failed attempts to wash off the loser stain has brought him to one conclusion: another run for president in 2024.

He's so anxious not to lose his perch that he is reportedly considering an announcement to run in 2024 on the day of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration.

Running for president does a lot for his needy personality, but nothing for the country or the Republican Party that put him in power.

If he starts running, he still will influence cable news and its older demo, although not as much as the guy who beat him, Biden.

He also cuts off the oxygen from any Republican who dares to succeed him – unless the party is smart enough to coalesce around a single alternative early on.

So if he doesn't go to jail and continues to flounder in the business world, he'll have nothing left to do but run.

Biden the winner

With Trump the loser out of the way and a new president in power, the country will start winning again. We'll beat the virus. We'll get the economy back and hopefully with many more people thriving in it.

Biden won as the perfect antidote to Trump. A majority of the country rejected Trump and Trumpism.

And despite our compatriots who fall for everything Trump says, there are plenty of Republicans who held their nose and voted to reelect him. They can't stand the guy but support GOP policies no matter the vessel. But despite this, Biden won handily with more votes than any presidential candidate in history and a popular vote lead closing in on 7 million — one of the largest margins ever.

History is also not on Trump's side. The only incumbent president to lose his reelection, only to regain it four years later was Grover Cleveland — who won in 1884, lost in 1888, and took back the White House in 1892. The difference is that in each of those three elections Cleveland won the popular vote, losing reelection because of the quirks of the Electoral College map. Trump, for his part, has lost the popular vote by huge margins in each of his two elections.

And Biden, in contrast to Trump, has significant room to expand his standing. The incoming president will get full credit for the country's economic revival – and he will reach those Americans who are desperate to be healed again.

Every time Trump taps the keyboard, the majority of the country will breathe a sigh of relief that he's just irrelevant and desperate. Biden will benefit from the contrast. While Trump breathes fire, Biden's cool reads the country's temperature more accurately.

Trump 2024

So let me be the first Democrat to say it: Please run again, Mr. Trump. You may be able to troll Biden a little. You may be able to distract entertainment news a bit. But you're not going to win. Biden will be more popular in four years after he's fixed the mess you've left. Your continued loser status is the best news cycle for all of us.
