This is what's meant to be  

As the moderator of this forum, I made the difficult decision nearly 6 months ago to disable posting privileges. The stated goal of this forum has always been to enable thoughtful discussion and bring people of different perspectives together around shared interests.

However, at that time there was an increase in harmful personal attacks and negativity that went directly against the inclusive culture we aim to foster. As the one responsible for maintaining a safe, respectable space, allowing this to continue would have meant failing the community.

I recognize that freedom of speech is an important right. However, that freedom does not extend to speech that threatens or harms others. My rules against personal attacks and hatred had been in place for years, with broad support from members. They were meant not as restrictions, but as basic expectations that enable civil discourse.

My hope remains that we can thoughtfully reflect and learn how to discuss complex issues and disagreements within the bounds of basic decency. Rather than seeing the closure as censorship, I encourage considering how each of us can positively contribute to constructive, non-hateful dialogue. I am open to re-opening posting at some point if we can collectively recommit to that goal of an inclusive forum where all feel safe, valued and heard. I welcome your constructive input on achieving that going forward.
