YOU didn't "... take away their slaves" at all. They were lost as a result of those states being in rebellion. The states that did not secede still allowed enslavement.
Enslavement still exists. Illegal immigrants are hired, families maintained in de facto enslavement. One reason Trumplicans are all about 'illegal immigrants, etc.", this allows them to terrorize their enslaved with 'la migra': make too much noise about your work conditions? and a raid, mass deportation follows.
