Rights?

https://welovetrump.com/2021/07/06/inhumane-conditions-that-violate-every-single-basic-human-right-for-january-6-detainees/

If you approve of holding political prisoners unconditionally now, you can be held in the same fashion in the future.

Our resident claimant to conservatism should come up with the right policy with this issue.

Let's see if he does, a sort of acid test.

Of course I don't expect him to pass.

All I expect out of him is a lame attempt at a...

But, they are getting Exactly what they Deserve. Political prisoners? No way, these people stormed our Capitol in an insurrection. They deserve harsh punishment, 10 years for all participants, life for leaders and organizers.

Anything if there aren't even charges being brought.

Let me put you down as a lib who doesn't believe in civil rights, so if your civil rights are ever violated, you can just rot away in cruel and unusual circumstances without trial, without charges, without bail, without legal representation.

If EVER there was an un American attitude, this would be it.

Thank you for admitting that you are un American in your refusal to uphold civil rights, and that it is okay to lie, cheat and steal, if you are a lib, and if the objective is important enough.

And of course, we all know, it's a lib who determines how important an objective is.

Great work there, lib, and...

  • More than 500 people have been charged with federal crimes linked to the US Capitol riot.
  • Six months after January 6, 13 people have pleaded guilty in connection to the insurrection.
  • The FBI is still attempting to identify people from the Capitol siege. We'll keep this list updated.
  • Visit Insider's homepage for more stories.

More than 500 people have been charged with federal crimes since supporters of then-President Donald Trump violently stormed the US Capitol on January 6 in an attempt to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election.

Six months later, 13 people have pleaded guilty in connection to the insurrection.

Jon Schaffer, a guitarist who founded the metal band Iced Earth, was the first person to file a guilty plea and agree to cooperate with prosecutors, according to Department of Justice filings. Schaffer is also a member of the Oath Keepers, a self-styled militia that prosecutors said planned and practiced its attack on the Capitol weeks in advance.

This table includes the names, accepted charges, and links to court documents of all the people who have pleaded guilty so far. We'll keep it updated as more names are released.

NAMEACCEPTED CHARGESNOTES
Jon Schaffer Obstruction of an official proceeding; entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon Guitarist for the heavy metal band Iced Earth.

Attorney General Merrick Garland told members of the Senate during his confirmation hearing that he planned to personally oversee the Justice Department's handling of the cases.

"I will supervise the prosecution of white supremacists and others who stormed the Capitol on January 6 — a heinous attack that sought to disrupt a cornerstone of our democracy: the peaceful transfer of power to a newly elected government," Garland said.

Only one person has been sentenced, Anna Morgan-Lloyd, who pleaded guilty to parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building. She received three years of probation and was ordered to pay $500 in restitution and serve 40 hours of community service.

The FBI is still seeking the public's help to identify people who took part in one of the most documented crimes in US history.

Update 5/2/2021: The Department of Justice originally listed Jared Adams as a defendant who pleaded guilty, but the DOJ later corrected its website to say Adams pleaded not guilty for his charges. Insider's database has been updated accordingly.

"According to two attorneys..." Gosh, who ever heard of an attorney making misleading or outright false statements outside the courtroom?

It's their job to present an argument to the charges, even if it's circumatantial.

One might also consider a judge's responsibility in releasing somebody who presents a danger to the public- you know, somebody who would attack a law enfircement officer? Or someone who would actively attack the Capital and a fundamental body performing theur duty under the Constitution. That's some Dear Leader, President for Life shyte right there.

It wasn't long ago that you libz ran Nixon out of town on a rail for abuse of government power.

You libz are so predictable.

Very ultra un American needless to say.

I don't want to hear a peep out of you libz about civil rights ever again.

Then Ron Johnson, and the Mayor of DC are wrong, and CroWalt left is right, and there is no need to worry about the civil rights of American citizens.

I also am entertaining the idea that CroWalt left is lying, because libz think it's okay to lie, cheat, and steal their way into winning election.

Hyperbole. Att9rneys may make assertions as they deem. You know, like the unqualified inncocence (or mistreatment) of their clients. That doesn't make it fact, does it?

You assert what I posted didn't happen, because you use you famous McCarthyism in a wimpy attempt to discredit the source, as if what was in the article didn't happen.

It did happen, lib.

"You assert what I posted didn't happen, because you use you famous McCarthyism in a wimpy attempt to discredit the source, as if what was in the article didn't happen."

I have never asserted McCarthyism, here or anywhere. I do, however, maintain that a liar's words are worthless until proven. Trump is a liar, only occasionally telling the truth by accident:

Trump seemed to acknowledge the existence of tax schemes the Trump Org is being prosecuted for, while denying they are crimes

  • Donald Trump appeared to confirm the existence of tax schemes his company is charged with.
  • At a rally in Florida, he implied it was no big deal to skip tax on homes, cars, or school fees.
  • The Trump Org and its CFO were charged this week with systematically dodging tax with such schemes.

Former President Donald Trump used a rally in Florida on Saturday to rail against the prosecution of the Trump Organization and its CFO.

Both are accused of dodging tax with an elaborate system of benefits, from utility bills and rental payments to the schooling fees for CFO Allen Weisselberg's grandson.

In the course of attacking the prosecution, Trump appeared to confirm the existence of the arrangements — which in court have the status of allegations by prosecutors rather than established fact.

Trump's argument appeared to be that his company's approach to tax was one that anybody might take, and that Manhattan prosecutors were acting disproportionately by pursuing a prosecution.

"They go after good, hard-working people for not paying taxes on a company car," Trump said.

"You didn't pay tax on the car or a company apartment. You used an apartment because you need an apartment because you have to travel too far where your house is," Trump continued. "You didn't pay tax. Or education for your grandchildren. I don't even know. Do you have to? Does anybody know the answer to that stuff?"

Prosecutors from the Manhattan district attorney's office filed 15 charges against the Trump Organization on Thursday, alleging that Weisselberg received perks totalling $1.7 million as a way of dodging tax. Weisselberg has denied the accusation.

Trump has claimed the investigation is politically motivated, and on Saturday attempted to downplay the seriousness of the alleged offences.

"Think of it, think of how unfair it is. Never before has New York City and their prosecutors or perhaps any prosecutors criminally charged a company or a person for fringe benefits. Fringe benefits. Murders, okay. Human trafficking, no problem — but fringe benefits, you can't do that."

Trump's defense was resembled his statement after Weisselberg was charged last week, in which he claimed that the fringe benefits are "standard practice throughout the U.S. business community, and in no way a crime."

Though the use of fringe benefits for employees at companies is quite common, tax experts told the Associated Press those that Weisselberg received are beyond the norm.

The experts said they appeared to be a significant part of his compensation, and therefore could likely be considered part of a tax avoidance ploy.

The charges are said to be part of a broader investigation into the Trump Organization's business practices.

The former president has resumed rallies amid rumors he is considering another presidential campaign in 2024.

The investigations into his businesses could have major implications for his political future, miring him in scandal as a gears up a prospective bid to return to power. Trump has not been charged with any wrongdoing himself.
