Trump failed to prepare for a ruinous potential, the novel coronavirus that cause the highest unemployment rate ever and the sharpest economic contraction since the Great Depression, not to mention hundreds of thousands of unnecessary American deaths. Trump made this statement in January 2020:

“We have it totally under control,” Trump told “Squawk Box” co-host Joe Kernen in an interview from the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. “It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

Mistaken, ignorant scientific positions are one thing but ignoring cautionary advice to prepare for a potential disaster is another. Excerpt:

Trump officials interfered with CDC reports on Covid-19

The politically appointed HHS spokesperson and his team demanded and received the right to review CDC’s scientific reports to health professionals.

By DAN DIAMOND

The health department’s politically appointed communications aides have demanded the right to review and seek changes to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s weekly scientific reports charting the progress of the coronavirus pandemic, in what officials characterized as an attempt to intimidate the reports’ authors and water down their communications to health professionals.

In some cases, emails from communications aides to CDC Director Robert Redfield and other senior officials openly complained that the agency’s reports would undermine President Donald Trump’s optimistic messages about the outbreak, according to emails reviewed by POLITICO and three people familiar with the situation.

....

That's a Galileo moment- the Earth was indeed round and the pandemic was coming.

Trump has admitted that he misled America, justifying his statements as not wanting to cause a panic in America. That's an admission that he could not lead an American effort to minimize the danger.

The world is no less dangerous now than then.

I mean, the all-knowing wizard/moderator has already told us that Trump will be convicted and imprisoned.

You better check with him to be certain that his prediction hasn't changed.

A candidate can campaign and be elected while incarcerated. Wild, ain't it? Felons can lose the franchise but be elected?
